Senior Accountant

Position Summary: This position is critical to the success of the newly re-built finance department. This position will focus on transactional level data input and reconciliation with some crossover into organization-level administration. This position has room to grow and will work alongside a team of other accountants to ensure the success of this non-profit organization.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure proper recording, and oversight of credit card purchases
  • Record revenue in an efficient and accurate manner
  • A/R & A/P, backup as needed
  • Responsible for assisting in monthly financial close including A/R & A/P aging reconciliations
  • Help establish and maintain organizational accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Review payroll processing and enter into system with accuracy and proper time allocation
  • Build and maintain inventory with financial accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Provide excellent customer and internal support for any accounting related emails or queries
  • Yearly 1099 preparation
  • Prepare monthly sales tax refund request
  • Assist in accounting functions for the agency including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of related experience in accounting roles.
  • Transactional level experience with some balance sheet reconciliation and journal entry preparation experience required.
  • Experience in MS Excel plus ability to learn Sage Intacct.
  • Excellent communication skills, problem-solving experience and initiative required.
  • Non-profit accounting experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a mission-driven environment.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination and yearly influenza vaccination required.
